Woo-Hoo for Friday!
Jun. 9th, 2006 05:19 amI'm glad this one has finally arrived.
Work was kinda like the Twilight Zone this week and something really bizarre happened yesterday that made me uneasy. (More on that later. Not much time to post this morning.)
Back pain is still EXCRUCIATING. I wish I knew what I had done to it. Morning is the worst and getting out of bed is something akin to TORTURE.
I'm hoping that rest over the weekend will help.
On the GREAT and WONDERFUL news front. My oldest said the IRS called yesterday while I was at work and said everything is OKAY now! WOO-HOO!!! Hooray!
I was, of course, THRILLED to hear that. And, very surprised that the IRS agent who was working with me this time actually called to tell me. He was a very, very NICE man and I sure appreciated his help.
Um...what else?
Got home late last night, after a Spring Concert over at the high school. Youngest is in the concert band. They performed, the Wind Ensemble performed, and the Jazz Band absolutely kicked ass!!!
Youngst has been asked if he wants to learn to play sax and join the Jazz Band next school year. Lots of seniors are graduating this year. I told him, if he was interested, to ask if he could bring home an instrument for the summer and I'd get him private lessons. I hope he does decide to join, but it has to be HIS decision. I'm not going to make him do something he doesn't really want to do.
Maybe that's it.
Hmm. Got my two query letters mailed yesterday before I dropped youngest off at school. Got more to write this weekend.
Got a lot to write, actually. Lots and lots. New plans for one of my lead-in novels. I'm very excited about it.
What are you folks up to? Anybody have anything exciting happen this week? Got any big plans for the weekend? What're you writing on?

Date: 2006-06-09 03:39 pm (UTC)Feel better soon and have a profitable writing weekend! I believe I'm going to spend mine polishing up a Combat! fanfic piece, just for a complete and utter change of pace from novel! :-D If I don't break down and drive to Modesto to look for a new tv set.

Date: 2006-06-09 04:03 pm (UTC)Back pain, get thee to a chiropractor, go. At the very least a nice backrub will make you feel better; if you can't do that, find a rocking chair and spend some time rocking. That's gentle help in keeping your back aligned.
Have yourself a great workday!

Date: 2006-06-10 04:26 am (UTC)Thanks. I'm hoping to get lots written. :)
Wow, I haven't seen Combat! in many years. What a great thing to write. And, yes, a definite change from novel-writing.
I need to look for a new TV, too. My bedroom one here croaked off earlier in the week. Though, right now, it's nice to have music instead of TV.

Date: 2006-06-10 04:27 am (UTC)You know, I've never had a problem with back pain before and have never been to a chiropractor. I must check to find a good one in my area.
A rocking chair will really help?
Thanks so much. I hope all is well with you? Have a great weekend!

Date: 2006-06-10 04:29 am (UTC)That flute just about did me in and it was ONLY $600...some, oh, wow, maybe five or six years ago.
Imagine what a saxophone would cost!

Date: 2006-06-10 04:34 am (UTC)Well, the Twilight Zone thing was that, out of the blue, boss lady started acting really concerned that she'd heard that I was unhappy with my commute. Now, she's KNOWN this for a long time and doesn't give a sh*t. But, I found out that it came down from the Big Boss, who said that they didn't normally do this, but that if I wanted to move closer to work, they'd pay $2,000 toward moving expenses.
Now, this is something that this company NEVER does. I was quite flattered...and felt like I was in the Twilight Zone.
Of course, Big Boss is a lovely man...just not at our facility often enough.
And, in spite of his generous offer, I naturally am NOT giving up my bright and shiny and new job. Only one more week of the miserable place. I live in hope.
Isn't unpacking miserable? Do you have to unpack everything? Or will you be leaving some stuff boxed since you're moving again soon?
How is everything going? Are you okay?

Date: 2006-06-10 04:36 am (UTC)But, I seriously want an electric guitar...and to learn how to play it. Aren't I pathetic?
Of course, I REALLY want a piano. Even if I could afford it, though, I could never have one in an apartment...especially an UPSTAIRS apartment.
