Too Much Inspiration?

Do you think there's such a thing as too much inspiration?

Especially when you have a limited amount of time?

It makes prioritizing very, very important.

Sometimes, it also makes it difficult.

I'm one of the ones that think there never could be too much inspiration for a writer. However, it can make life difficult. I try to carry around pads and write down things as quickly as possible (so I don't 'lose' my thoughts).

Actually, though I tend to enjoy teaching and writing. IMO, it seems they can be symbiotic in nature since one tends to 'feed' off of the other and makes the other better.

I currently have 13 novels planned out, 5 short stories and three proposals for media tie-in work out at editors right now. Plus I'm going to college and thinking about taking up podcasting.

When will I have time to write all this? I have no idea.

Plus, I keep thinking up new things . . .

I feel like that guy on the commercial who's in debt up to his ears. Big smile fixed on my face and saying "Somebody help me!"

There's a blessing to having an overactive imagination and a curse. It's just a matter of plowing forward anyway.

No such thing.

Not enough time for all that inspiration? Sadly, yes, that is a real thing.

But! I think it's always going to be like that, even when you do have all the time in the world.

... at least, I hope it'll be like that. I would never want less inspiration just because I have more time.

Yes, absolutely.

I remember the first time this occurred to me. I was about 11, and I had and entire series of novels planned out from beginning to end, and I kept getting new ideas and having to try to work them in.

I wrote 1 1/2 of those novels before I got distracted by an entirely new series I wanted to write. I remember thinking, "At this rate, I'll never finish anything because I'll keep getting new ideas! I could live to be 200 and still never write all the stuff I want!"

Mmm...depends. For me, I think in the past I had too much inspiration for too many stories. I would be working on one story, then I'd get an idea for another one. I'd try to work on them both and would give up on one so I could work on another. Or I'd just get so frustrated with them that I wouldn't bother trying to continue. For the past year, though, I've managed to have inspiration mainly for my 'novel,' and I've found it harder to write anything other than that because I want to focus on ONLY that. I want to actually finish it.

So, yeah, it kinda depends on how the inspiration is working out for you. o.o
