Speaking of Sunsets...
Apr. 20th, 2006 09:21 pmWhich I did in my last post...
I have to say that the end of tonight's was one of the most beautiful I've seen in a long time.
I left home around 7:30 to go pick up my oldest about 20-25 minutes away. It was almost dark, but not quite. Just barely needed the headlights on.
The sky to the west was tinged all pale pinks and blues with wisps of grey streaked through. The mountains were majestic to the north, but had been reduced to these marvelous purple shadows
Everything smelled fresh. Greens and orange blossoms and eucalyptus.
And the temps had dropped from mid-80's to low 70's.
The breeze was calm.
The lights flickered on across the San Gabriel Valley like fireflies, a few at a time.
And, I was listening to "Wanna Be An Angel" and enjoying it sooooo much as I drove up to get my son.
On the way back, we drove through the hills, where we could look down on the brilliance of the lights in the valley and watch for bunnies and coyotes and skunks.
Alas, we saw no critters and I was sad. :)
However, up through the hills into Walnut, there are no street lights in some areas and with the heavy tree cover, it was sooooo BLACK. It was WONDERFUL! Marvelous! Such a contrast to all the lights we'd seen on the top of the hill before.
I love where I live. It makes me happy.
I was going to write more when I got back, but I came home kinda dizzy. I'm exhausted. Time to sleep.
