With the changes in life, the new position, the driving distance to the new position, the emotional topsy-turvy lately, I'm going to try to get back into the swing of things and work my way back up to good momentum later in the year.

So, only one definite goal this month.

Goals for April:

Write Phantom Song from start to finish.

My first estimate of the word count I wanted to hit for April was 125,000. I'm not sure that Phantom Song will be that long. I think it's looking more like it might hit 100,000 words.

While I'd love to have the 125,000 words for April, I'm going to be happy if I can just finish Phantom Song.

Or, at least, I'm going to try. A lot of that depends on how much I can write on the weekends, because I think it'll be difficult to get many words during the week.

good luck........

I just wanted to ask though, is it a Phantom of the Opera book?

It's not, though, quite honestly, it was inspired by listening to the play sountrack extensively during some days off a few weeks back and maybe it has an element or two that's vaguely similar, though it's nothing like Phantom of the Opera.

It has a main character who is a professional singer and is attracted into the ruins of an ancient city by a strange, elusive song. But she's lured there to take the place of the being who summoned her. He's been trapped there, guarding something for eons and realizes she has the power to free him and he can trap her there himself. There are, of course, romantic complications and the like, but those make a story fun, now, don't they?

Yep, I agree.........

Do you know exactly what you're going to write?

Dracula's never been copyrighted and the Leroux copyright ran out in '80 or so (which is why Andrew Lloyd Weber was able to write his play). So, I dunno, but I think I'm in the clear copyright wise for whichever way I plan to go. If I can't find an agent, I'll do a self-publish option.

Exciting!!!

I'd love to read if you need readers when you're done...or as you write. I do love Dracula.

Thanks.......

Isn't it amazing how a new month can bring a totally new perspective?
