It rained ALL night.

It rained HARD all night.

It was beautiful and lovely and peaceful.

I think it has stopped now. I think it's supposed to be over for a while. (Famous last words.) I do love the rain, though.

Yesterday afternoon, I had a job interview with a company that's only about a 15-minute drive from where I work now. (Even in pouring rain.)

I don't think I was at my most eloquent, because I'd been upset and rushing and stressed most of the day. However, the people I interviewed with were nice, we had a pleasant conversation in addition to the interview, and, most importantly, I fit their requirements to a tee.

They want someone with general accounting, especially general ledger, month-end close, account analysis, bank reconciliation experience. They want someone with cost accounting experience. They want someone with manufacturing experience. They wanted someone who could back up A/P, A/R, and Payroll if necessary. They wanted someone familiar with ADP. They wanted someone familiar with FAS. They wanted someone familiar with AS-400. I have all of that multiple times over.

One thing they found in me that the Controller said they hadn't considered before was someone to back HIM up as well.

So...

They asked me if I'd be available today for a phone interview with the partner of the CPA firm who audits their company since they're public. I told them I was off today, so that might happen this afternoon.

They asked if I had to give two week's notice. I told them I'd have to check on what the current company requires, but that it was normally common courtesy. However, we might be able to work something out. (Like me helping old company on weekends and such until they found someone.)

They asked if I had any sick days and if I could be there one day next week to actually go over the cost accounting system with the partner I'll be speaking with today, because he set it up.

All good signs.

Of course, I will keep in mind that they could find someone even better. It's not over yet. But, it IS hopeful. Very hopeful.

I have two interviews this morning. One at 7:45 and one at 10:00. Both with agencies. The first one wants to send me out on an interview with a company looking to fill a position, but I don't know anything about the position yet.

When I got home yesterday, I had a call from another recruiter. I will return their call after I get all of my interviewing done today.

It's really interesting that, now that I have a job and I'm not totally desperate, many possibilities are popping up. Last year, when I was desperate because the old company was collapsing, things were much more difficult.

Good thoughts are greatly appreciated at this point...especially for the one that sounds so good.

It even pays a little more. $5,000/year. Believe me, every little bit helps!!!

And, of course, not as much driving. An extra half an hour per day at most...unless there's an accident...or floods like yesterday.

OMG, there were totally flooded out streets!!! Water was up higher than the bottom of cars and I was very glad that the electric battery is in the trunk of my Prius!!!

But, it was cool, too. :)

I like the rain. But, I've said that already, haven't I?

Off to put on the make-up and the business suit.

Everybody have a GREAT day!
