Congrats on a quiet weekend. I always enjoy those. Mine was BUSY yesterday, but quiet today...lovely.
Writing is good. Congrats!
I've been making notes and putting together some text from a novel I'm revising with some new material so I can turn it into something completely different and hopefully make it better.
My weekend was nice. Got some sushi, did some nonfiction writing for reviews and such, and watched way too much Sci-Fi Channel. Waiting eagerly for Dark Kingdom tomorrow night.
I got to break up a glass fight at work. Good times.
On a happier note, I've got one chapter left to write in the third book, and Indigo - the Canadian version of Barnes and Noble - has agreed to start carrying the first one, starting in May. And the first book has sold almost 1000 copies, which I think is fairly snazzy considering it's been out for a month and you can only get it from me, Amazon, or Borders and there's been no advertising for it other than word of mouth.
I made icons last night, or maybe it was Friday night, including the dino which was in the Sinclair exhibit at the NY World's Fair, 1964-65.
Mostly, I've been playing with my Mal Reynolds (Serenity/Firefly) action figure, posing him all around my apartment and doing up captions. I uploaded them to flickr and posted a sample and the link on my lj. I'm taking him to work tomorrow for a photo shoot there. :)
Out of curiosity, what does eel taste like? I've never had it. I like squid, though. Are they similar in taste?
Oh, that's tragic. Well, good that you didn't pay for it, but terrible that it was so bad.
Has Rottweiler been on yet? If so, I missed it. If not, I plan to. I saw the commercial once, and knew they were way past scraping the bottom of the barrel.
The great thing about digital cameras is that you can take as many pics as you want since there's no developing cost. It's a bad thing, too, because in my case, it means I can take a hundred shots a day.
I don't think I could stand using the same icon all the time. I crave variety.
Yummy! Tell me about pumpkin seed cookies, please? I've never heard of them and I'm curious.
Ooooh, I love homemade bread. Do you like to bake?
Maybe you needed a break from revisions and you'll both be happy with each other now? Cookies fix lots of problems, don't they?
I'm having peach yogurt. I'm too lazy to bake tonight. My oldest made dinner. I didn't even have to cook. Spaghetti. It was delicious!
Changes are going well, thanks. I can't honestly tell you I've written many new words, but I have cut and restructured and made notes. And, moved some words I wrote to another novel instead and decided and realized where I probably need to start in order to alternate the chapters like I was telling you about.
However, moving the words into the other novel has made me think I might tackle it a little tonight. I'd be thrilled to death if I could get a couple hundred words on it!
Eel and squid are very similair, with that rubbery sort of taste. You'd probably like it.
Rottweiler was on a few weeks back. Probably the worst of the worst SciFi Originals ever aired. Not sure. It made me want to write though since I knew whatever I put down on paper would be ten times better than that flick.
I'm fine; I have a wonderful ability to survive things that should kill me. Thanks for the concern, though; people around here just assume I take these things in stride, but it's not a lot of fun at the time and it sorta puts a damper on the rest of the evening.
As far as the writing goes, I'm Ecstatic. Second book is getting good reviews from the few that've looked at it, too, which is a plus - I'll start editing it once the one I'm working on is done, which should be in the next few days.
I watched the webcast of my husband's rocket launching off Kwaj in the Marshall Islands. It went up...and then it came down, but it looked cool regardless.
Now it is in many pieces.
And while he helped collect rocket debris, I did manage to get some writing done, so I'm proud of that....
I did some more story outlining/planning but no actual writing, read Fiskadoro by Denis Johnson (and was annoyed that someone had come up with a post-apocalyptic Florida setting before I did) and went to my parents' house to hang out with them and my sister and brother-in-law. It was my mom's birthday and I forgot about it! I am a terrible daughter.
I've been fighting off some kind of flu so I've been tired and queasy all the time. I kind of would rather just get sick and get it over with.

I watched lots of SF Channel today. Watching SF Channel now.
I'm looking forward to Dark Kingdom too. I hope it's not a disappointment. The commercials look great, don't they?

Date: 2006-03-27 02:55 am (UTC)I worked on a review of a short fiction collection for Tangent Online. Let's just say I'm glad I didn't pay money for the book...
And finally, the commercials do make it look exciting. Much better than say, Minotaur or Rottweiler...heh...

A photo shoot sounds fun. :)
