That once something clicks in a novel, everything else starts to fall into place so fast you can't keep up with it?

And, it usually happens some place (like work) that you can't do much about it?

And, you're begging the ideas and visions to stay with you until you get home???

Augh, yes! It usually happens to me while driving. At work at least I can scribble down some notes.

Happens to me a lot. Also happens WHILE writing, but it's still that's not going to happen until much later.

In both cases (while writing, or at work), I take notes in my PDA, on paper, or whatever is handy.

Scribble out an LJ post and just lock it as private :D

When I get an idea at work, I email it to myself so I won't forget. :)

Oh yes! That happens all the time. The ideas keep cascading and you're nowhere near a pen and paper....

The only place anything seems to click is when I'm far far away from a computer. You definitely have my sympathies! Write notes before it slips away.

Carry a dictaphone everywhere.
That's what I do.
Works wonders...

Get a little note book to jot things down in or a dichtophone. They help keep those idea going; there's bit of dialogue that I would have lost without them, to say nothing of ideas, treatments, characters, plot summaries, et al.

You can call the dichtophone 'Diane,' too, which always pleases Twin Peaks fans.

Totally. There've been time where I've just gotten these huge spurts of creativity for ideas when I'm not already writing, so I have to scramble to write them down, and then it's awesome when I'm already writing and I get an idea to use right then and there in what I'm writing. ^_^

Yep.....

but, at that point, I try to remember things and then, grab a pencil and write things down. I agree with one of your flist buddies. It's harder to do when you think of something great while you're driving.

The dictaphone is a great idea. I should get one, for that very reason.

I e-mail myself. Dictophone sounds like a great idea. I should probably get one for work anyway.
