Did anybody do anything exciting over the weekend?

Anybody got the holiday off today?

Based on comments to my post last night, I'm starting to think that maybe I'm the only LJer having to actually work today.

It was a bit chilly this morning. 39 degrees when I came to work at 7:00. That's cold for us, though I know lots of you have temps below 0 right now. Brrrrr.

So far, it's looking like a good day. Fingers crossed for no disasters today!

I'm working today, too. My employers' attitude seems to be "Holiday? What holiday?" ;)

Here in MA, it's 22 degrees right now. It was 6 when I got up this morning. 39 sounds positively balmy! :)

I've only got a kind of holiday (from my 6 hours a week job, not uni or my other 6 hours a week job!) because it's half term and the kids aren't at school. Is there a national holiday today in the US?

No holidays at my company until Memorial Day. Which is too bad...a three day weekend would have been really nice!

Today is President's Day. The government has off (so there's no mail delivery or government services), the banks are closed, and all the schools have off.

The nicer places of employment let their employees off...but I think that's few and far between.

I'm still here, working away. Don't get another holiday until Memorial Day, the end of May!!!!

And it's COLD *she whined.* I'm worried about the condition of my potted outdoor azalea but I don't want to challenge the cold with a quick dash outside.

Do you remember the smudge pots in the orange groves? They'd always smoke up on days like this. I miss the orange groves.

I work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, so I get all the holidays off, including funky local ones like "Bunker Hill Day".

Not that I've done much productive with my free day, but I did reclaim my doggies from the kennel and made some popcorn. Later, I might even start looking at the novel again, after a nearly week-long hiatus. I've even got the iPod charged, so it's looking likelier than not. (-:

Probably the only thing I miss about my old job is the holidays. I lost three holidays switching over to the marketing company... MLK, Prez Day, and Veteran's Day.

I'm here today, as the "ice storm" wasn't bad enough for me to claim poor work conditions and work from home for the day. Drove in with freezing drizzle icing up the windshield, though. Yuck.
