I just made a post to my LJ and it VANISHED. It did NOT post.

That's the THIRD time that's happened to me this week.

LJ's pulled that crap with me so many times that now I copy the whole damn post/comment before I try to actually post it. That way, when LJ fucks up I can just go back and paste it in.

Stupid LJ.

I should do that.

And, apparently, I'm not getting comments on a timely basis now, either. I didn't get this one. I just checked to see if any other recent comments didn't post and saw there was a comment on this one.

HOpe you don't mind if I say 'me too.' Just posting from the hotel here in Baltimore, random stuff about workshopping and writing and now it's gone, all gone!

Damn.

Doesn't it make you want to scream???

Have you followed this week's issues with LJ security?

Hackers hit LJ. This is why the subdomain names were changed and why certain users were frozen from using their LJ until they changed their password to the current standard.

One of the things the hackers could do is delete posts.

Woops, I think it just happened with the comment I tried to post! It gave an error about a 'talk id'.

Usually on a halfway important post I do Ctl-A and Ctl-C so it will be on the memory clipboard. Trying again.

Is there a way to archive my whole LJ blog site to my hard drive?

You can archive your LJ through LJ Book...but you have to give your password to do it, so I'd recommend temporarily changing it until the archiving is done.

That's happened to me a couple of times this week too. I think it's all the coding updates that they have going on right now. (Did you notice the new URLs?)

I got my dates for being in the LA area next month. Do you still want to get together for tea and/or food?
I have two different dates. (Lots of business travel next month and the month after.)

I wish they'd get it all straightened out soon. I mean, I'm glad they are working on getting it more secure and everything, but still. Very inconvient.

Looks like a good service, thanks. I guess everyone will be doing it right now because of the hacking problem, so I'll wait till things settle down.

I don't much like PDF's, I'd like to pull mine out as text instead. I do have Acrobat so maybe I can get the text out of the PDF that way. Anyway it looks like kind of a chore.

Ahhhh... another post flushed straight into that big cyber-toilet in the sky... I hate it when that happens.

When are you going to be here? Didn't you mention Pasadena at one time?

Weekdays are not always good for me. Weekends are better. Except for this weekend and next weekend, when I have to help with the high school's Academic Decathlon team. (Always something going on.)

It would be great to meet you.

February 2&3 and February 10th are my "I'm already in the area" days. You live close enough that I don't mind driving just to visit at some other point in time if you're busy then.

I haven't been following it, though I had heard that it happened.

So, do they have something in place that deletes posts at random? Or do they target specific LJ's?

Gets frustrating, doesn't it?

February 2 & 3 are probably NOT good. Two of my kids have things going on then.

February 10 might be possible, though. Where in the area will you be, and what hours? (You can e-mail me if you don't feel comfortable posting the info.)

You know, there are a lot of us LJers/writers in the soCal area. We should do something big sometime.

Especially since NEW poblems keep popping up and you can't be prepared for them.

Yeah. Do you think LJ is trying to tell me something?

Specific LJs, because the password (or other elements) made that journal vulnerable.

Maybe you're just wearing out their server. ;-)
