In fact, I think I'd kill for some good chocolate right about now. LOL.

I've been this way off and on for two days. It usually hits me suddenly and I think I'm going to DIE if I don't get chocolate.

Isn't that bizarre? Cause, normally, I can take it or leave it...though, I like it, of course.

The problem is that one usually has to actually make a quest out of finding decent sugar free chocolate.

There's the semi-cheap stuff at Walmart, but that requires a trip to Walmart. There's the more expensive Russell Stover that can often be found at the grocery store...but not always.

Then there's the GOOD stuff. It takes a trip to the mall and a pocket full of money. It comes in many kinds, including...drool...truffles. Mmmmmm....

Except that there's this Super Walmart where my sister lives that has sugar free Baby Ruth bars. Yummy. I love those things.

I filled out a card at my Albertsons to see if they can order them for me by the ton (okay, maybe not quite that many...by the dozen is more like it), but...alas...sniffle...they haven't called me about it yet.

I think I need to keep a stash here at work for the run-down times when I'm really CRAVING the stuff.

Live and learn, I guess. :)

One of my Christmas presents this year: a tin of dark chocolate truffles dusted with cocoa... from France.

I would share if you were here. :)

The sugar-free stuff still has carbohydrates (I'm diabetic), so I have to be careful. And I've found that just about ANY of the sugar-free candy gives me the, um, intestinal discomforts for a day or so. Even cookies we baked using Splenda made hubby and I both have stomachaches for several hours. I can tolerate Fifty/50 peanut butter chocolate bars made in Israel, but only one a day, or my blood sugar will skyrocket. There's a company here that makes baked goods and candy, "Sugarless DeLite," but they don't release their carb count, so it's useless to someone who is trying to follow the meal plan, at least nominally. They were selling brownies up a storm, and I walked up and asked how many carbs in the brownies, and they shouted, "Sugar Free!" I noted that the brownies contained flour and other ingredients, and wondered if they had any sheets detailing the carb and protein. They said, "Oh, no, nobody's ever asked about THAT," as though I were from the planet Mongo and trying to discredit them. "Next!"

Anyhow . . . if you can actually get away with eating the stuff, great! I used to have to buy those Estee hard candies (yuck), but now that they have not only Splenda but the glycosolated whatever-it-is that's listed as maltitol or other sugar alcohols, there is a much wider choice. Sugar alcohols can cause stomach upset if used to excess, they tell you themselves, so do be a bit careful. . . .
