Here in the Land of Eternal Night
Oct. 27th, 2005 07:16 amOkay, so I heard it might rain tomorrow, but, WHOA, it's still nighttime outside, and it's already 7:18!!!
I got drizzled on pretty consistently on my way to work. Dare I hope for rain today? Please? Pretty please? I love the rain.
My oldest children stayed home today. One had no classes. One was worn out and decided not to volunteer today.
That left the youngest and I on our own so...shhhh...don't tell the others...we went out to Denny's for breakfast.
It was yummy.
And, I got more Xanali plotting done while we talked and waited for our food to come. I'm up to 49 plot points now and perhaps nearing the halfway point of my novel. I think I might have time to actually get the entire thing plot pointed by the time NaNoWriMo starts.
I'm sooooooo excited. :)
Hmm...what else? I've been late getting to bed most of the week, so I'm kinda brain dead a lot of the time.
I came in to work today determined to make it a good day in spite of stress and stuff. So, it's starting out that way, at least.
If I can make enough progress with the month-end crap today (crap and stuff are two of my catch-all words so I don't have to go into detail listing things out), then tomorrow might not be so bad.
My boss (who is at a different division and is in charge of Finance) has been out since Tuesday having surgery and won't be back until sometime next week. So, the Cost Accountant there is having to do her month-end work, and we're all a little stressed this month.
I've decided, in this situation with the new man that I mentioned yesterday, that, for now, I'm going to continue to be nice and treat him THE SAME WAY I treat everyone else...with courtesy and respect.
I've noted that the women he singled out for different treatment were all women who were strong women. Two of us have management positions and responsibilities that he doesn't have and one is just very...uh...vocal. Very aggressive. (The bitch lady who isn't so bitchy any more that I mentioned in a post yesterday.)
So far, today, it seems to be working. I delivered some mileage reimbursement money to him this morning and I was bright and cheery and pleasant and professional...and there were other people present...and we got along well. He was nice and pleasant and professional to me as well. If that can continue when there are not people around, we may have this problem fixed.
Fingers crossed. I'm not naive...just hopeful.
