How the writing brain works?

How you know it's working on something, but you're not sure what?

But, you get that feeling of anticipation? And, you go with it. And, you explore the directions it leads.

And, then, one morning, you wake up, and you've found where it was leading...

And, then, you discover it's not the end of that particular journey...

But, only the beginning of a new one.

Delicious.

Satisfying.

Exciting.

Something even better.

MUCH editing. Much. Much. MUCH.

I have a screenplay to send out tomorrow. Squee! And, I'm so excited and I've been working on tightening and trying to make it even better.

I look back at it now and go, "Dude, how did it ever win a contest? How did it almost sell?"

And, I ask myself, "Am I a better writer now?"

I hope I'm a better writer now.

I see sooo many ways to make it better and, even though there's probably no way to get all the changes made, I hope I can get it tightened up enough to interest the manager it's going to.

If not, it's not the end of the world.

In fact, it's just the beginning. I like the fact that I can see my old work with new eyes and that I can see ways to tighten and improve it.

That's very exciting.

I hope it means I'm growing and developing as a writer.

I'm soooo excited.

But, I'm going to sleep so I can get up and maybe finish my edits in the morning.
