Home Again
Jul. 17th, 2005 08:10 pmGot home from visiting my sister,
devinharris, in Nevada, around noon today.
Great trip. Did lots of fun things. Went lots of places. Saw "Fantastic Four", which I LOVED!!! Great movie.
However, we just about melted in the heatwave. Nevada is hot enough this time of year as it is without a record-breaking heat wave on top of it all.
Driving across the Mojave on Friday, the temps hit 122. I had to stop in Baker for fluids. It hit 117 in Pahrump and Vegas yesterday.
It was already 99 when I left this morning at 7:00 AM. However, much cooler when I got home. Tonight, when I just picked up my youngest son at a birthday party, it was 81. Ahhhh...lovely.
However, I am blistered on my arm and shoulder where I had arm hanging out the window on the way up and back. I also am wind-burned on face and upper part of chest and neck where tank top scooped.
Ouch.
Wrote a little on Friday. Only like 147 words or something. Too busy at work and too much driving and stuff. Was gone all day Saturday. We shopped and ate and went to the movies and survived a Gamera attack (yes, there's an interesting story in there). Wrote a little in my spiral while I waited for breakfast at Coco's in Baker this morning. Typed a little in.
Will get back to more regular writing schedule this week.
Weekend was good. If I wasn't so tired right now, I'd want to do it all again. :)
