I went shopping after breakfast this morning, which isn't always a fun thing, but I hit the grocery, Walmart, and Staples all before it was too nuts. Except for Staples, where people were standing in line for something free. But, I wasn't interested in it/didn't know what it was, and only wanted to pick up some things and get home.
But, I bought myself a new purse and a pretty top at Walmart and a new set of drawing pencils and a toner for my printer at Staples. Small things. Except for the toner, which was rather expensive. But, it's amazing how I can get excited about small things like that and not worry about spending a few dollars. Nice feeling.
And, it's great to have a semi-working printer again. It's getting on in years...five years old, I think, and was a $299, inexpensive Brother, when I got it. So, I can't complain. I've gotten LOTS of use out of it, many screenplays and many rough drafts. But, it's seen better days and might have to be replaced by the end of the year.
However, I haven't been able to afford a toner for it in many, many months, so I've nursed a few copies out of it until the other day, when it crapped out completely. But, knowing I'm getting my bonus next week gave me the nerve to get a new toner and it's cool to be able to print again!!! Woo-hoo! Just in time to finish my novel in a few days and print out a copy to edit from. (I'm thinking positive!)
Anyway, it's nice to revel in the little things.
I was going to take the kids to the movies today to see The Brothers Grimm, but we might go tomorrow, instead. Only because I want to be a lazy bum today. The mall where the theater is isn't quite as nuts on Sunday mornings either. Tonight, we might go to Millie's for their Saturday soup special instead. Yummy! It's inexpensive and nice atmosphere, too.
Going to work on reading
bachsoprano's novel today...what she's got ready to be read and then work on my novel later, too. Going to work on critiques/reviews too.
Nice day. Quiet. For once, I can actually enjoy a Saturday. What a change!
Hope everyone else is having a great Saturday, too.
