Spider Condominium
Jul. 14th, 2005 08:21 amDid I spell that right?
I've never seen anything like this. And, even as a person who does NOT like spiders, this is quite fascinating.
As I look out this office window one entire side outside is taken up by a cool array of spiderwebs. Top to bottom. In some spots, they extend out about a foot into the window. In some, no more than three or four inches.
The interesting thing about this is that an entire family of daddy long-legs live on this one LONG web. Each appears to have its own level on the web, though some of them do come close to one another without any apparent aggression.
They're all fairly small. All very active today, which is unusual. Normally, they're a pretty quiet bunch.
I can easily count at least TWENTY of them out there.
I had no clue any spiders lived in communities like this.
